The Record

Biography

Margaret Ellison began her career in 1995 in a two-desk office on Beacon Hill, representing families in the sale of houses older than the state's brokerage statutes. She built her practice on a single discipline: know the building before you know the price.

Over thirty-one years she has guided more than 900 transactions across Boston's protected districts, and has advised preservation boards on the disclosure standards now common in historic sale practice. Her office has trained forty-one licensees, eleven of whom now lead firms of their own.

Colleagues describe her record as unremarkable in one specific way: there is no controversy in it. That absence, sustained across three decades, is the reason her name appears here.
